Dear Parents,
My name is Kristy Parr, and I will be your child’s Language Arts teacher this year. This will be my 19th year teaching, but my sixth year teaching at UJHS, and I still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to get to teach the best subject to the greatest age group of kids alongside the most wonderful team of teachers. Every year has been uniquely wonderful and I am so excited to see what this year holds.
I recently moved to Tolono with my husband Bryan, son Brady (15), and daughter Larissa (12). We enjoy Disney vacations, fishing, and baseball; especially cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Browns. When I am not spending time with my family, my main interests are reading, teaching, and spending time outdoors. I love when I can combine all three.
This year, we will dive into a new curriculum that is accessible online and through a consumable workbook. We also read one class novel per quarter. Your child will have many opportunities to be a detective, a historian, author, and an artist.
Much of what we do will be in class, but there will also be some homework most days. As a parent, I know how busy the evenings can be, and I try to minimize the amount of outside work, but we simply cannot cover everything in our time together in class.
I am very excited to get to know you and your child. If we all work together, we will not only have a successful year, but a fun and rewarding one as well. Please contact me at any time if you have questions, concerns, criticisms, or suggestions. The quickest, most efficient way to contact me is through email (parrk@unity.k12.il.us), but you may also call the school (217.485.6735).
I look forward to getting to know you and your child over the next year!
Sincerely,
Kristy Parr
