The Red Panda, Ailurus fulgens, lives in the high altitudes of Nepal, India, Bhutan, Myanmar and China. They are mainly arboreal but they often live in densely bamboo covered areas near a water source. Their primary role in their ecosystem is to control bamboo populations and to serve as prey to other endangered carnivores. They are currently recognized as endangered on the ICUN red list. I have always enjoyed seeing red pandas in zoos so I feel like this will be an interesting opportunity to learn more about them.
