USC-AC Track and Field: Important things to know!
Practice Time: 3:30-5:30
What to wear: Even if you have clothes for gym class, make sure that you bring track clothes every day.
Shorts
T-shirt
Good socks
Good running shoes (fit well, not worn down) (Check out where to get good running shoes below)
Cold weather running gear
Sweatpants
Sweatshirt
Hat
Gloves
What to bring:
Water bottle (with water in it)
A towel (we will be doing some core work and if you do not have space on a mat, I want to make sure you do not have to plank on the concrete)
Please leave your phone in your locker or backpack during practice!
Running outside in the cold
Plan on going outside for most of practice. Make sure to have the appropriate winter running gear with you for every practice.
Running shoes:
Look at the bottom of your shoes. If the bottom of the shoe is worn down it is time to get a new pair.
I recommend going to a store that specializes in selling running shoes, like River Valley Running in Mankato. Mention that you are a high school athlete and you get a discount!
Brands of shoes that I like: Brooks, Asics, Nike, New Balance, Saucony. If you want help deciding which type of shoe to get, you can one of the coaches for some suggestions, or you can ask the people at the store what kind of shoe you should get (neutral, supportive, cushioned, etc.)
