Set up Predict Engine

If you have already installed Predict Engine and activated your license, you can go directly to the next step :

Install Predict Engine

Once the Predict Unity package is loaded into your project, you shall ensure you have a valid installation of Predict Engine on your computer.

If Predict Engine is not already installed on your machine, it can be installed:

  • manually if UVR provided you a direct link,

  • via the menu PredictSuite/Preferences” (recommended).

NB: By installing Predict Engine via the Unity interface you should ensure you are using the recommended version of Predict Engine for your Predict Unity package.

Requirements :

  • OS: Predict Engine can be installed on Windows (10 or higher) or Linux (kernel >=3.18).

  • GPU:

        • Predict Engine requires at least a Nvidia Pascal GPU (GeForce GTX 1050 TI 4go), but we recommend using a Turing card (RTX 2070 8go) or above.

        • If you have several GPU on your machine and one of them is not supported by Predict Engine, you can select which GPU are attributed to Predict Engine in the Nvidia Control Panel:

              • Open the Nvidia control panel by right-clicking on your desktop,

              • Select Manage 3D Settings under 3D Settings,

              • Click on the Program Settings tab and select Predict Engine,

              • Change the CUDA Graphics Processors.

  • Drivers: The Nvidia video driver version should be 495.89.0 or higher and the Nvidia card compute capability should be of 6.0 or higher. See this link for details on which driver is currently installed: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2039/~/how-do-i-determine-which-nvidia-display-driver-version-is-currently-installed.

You can have an overview of the available devices on your machine in the UVR Preferences.

Activate a license

You can activate a new license in the PredictSuite preferences, section General. Three types of license are supported for Predict Engine, they are mentioned bellow and more details are available in the Licenses sections.

  • Online: if you are connected to the internet, you can use the online license activation with a license key.

  • Offline: if you are not connected to the internet or if you are using a local network, we can provide you with an offline activation code :

        • use a valid license key to generate a license request code,

        • send an email to license@united-vr.com with the given code, we will reply with an activation code,

        • use this activation code, combined with the license key, to activate Predict Engine on your machine.

  • On Premise: if you have access to an on premise license server, you can reference the server on your computer. Once the server has been referenced, the Predict Engine license will be available on your computer if a token is available on the server.

UVR licenses require the system to be synchronized with the Cryptlex time system. If your machine is more than 5 minutes apart from the license server, the license will be considered as invalid.

On a Windows OS, you can synchronize your time system by following the next steps :

  • Open the Time & Language settings,

  • Under the “Additional settings” section, click the Sync now button.

Set up the region settings

If you are working on a Windows OS with default system settings, file paths with non-ASCII characters will not be interpreted correctly by Predict Engine and they will generate errors. To be able to use paths with non-ASCII characters, please follow the next steps :

  • Click the Windows Start button, and open the Settings.

  • Open the Time and Language menu, and select the Language section.

  • Click on Administrative language settings, the Region dialog box will appear.

  • On the Administrative tab, click on Change system local…, the Region Settings dialog box will appear.

  • Enable the Use Unicode UTF-8 toggle and close the dialog.

  • Restart your computer.
