Wire Art - Alexander Calder

Search the web for images of Alexander Calder. He was an artist known to create the first mobile. He also is known for large metal public sculptures and Stabiles and his work in wire. Here is a self-portrait I made inspired by the art of Alexander Calder. Wire can be purchased at hardware stores, in the jewelry section of a craft or hobby store, or you can just sometimes find good colored wire by stripping down wire used to install video or computers. Pipe cleaners are also a great kids choice for working with wire. Remember not to use good scissors to cut wire as they will not be your good scissors anymore! Wire cutters are best. Ask your parents for help!
