Drawings in CAD Software

Orthographic drawings are always presented in a specific format. By following this format, your drawings can be interpreted by another person accurately.

In order to create drawings of the object at the right, you can use the planning drawing function in your CAD software. Remember, the aim of these drawings is to communicate information about the object so that another person could create it.

1. Create a new Onshape account

Note:

- Choose Student
- Website: unishanoi.org

2. Follow these Instructions/tutorials

Change Units to Millimeters

a. In the top right corner clicking “Manage account.”

b. Click “Preferences” under your Account settings, and you will see an option for “Units.” CHANGE THIS TO Millimeter

3. Learn how to Create a Sketch

Open the Basic Block detailed drawing to Right-hand side - using the dimensions given, make the model in OnShape

For the purpose of this exercise, we shall look at modeling a basic part (see image to the left) and bringing it into a detailed drawing using OnShape (see Basic Block detailed drawing below)

Task 2 - Watch the tutorial below and reproduce the 'basic block' detailed drawing

Then upload as your B4 detailed drawing exercise

NOTE: the tutorial uses 'inches' and selects a template that suits this measurement.

YOU need to select a drawing template that is in MM ANSI_B_MM.dwt is a common size and the product can always be scaled to suit.
