Design of Space Vehicles (8 hours)

GSSI PhD in Innovative Technology for Space Missions and Radiation Detection (Year: 1)

The course aims to provide students with the techniques for selecting the appropriate on-board subsystems to achieve the goals set for the mission. Through case studies it is shown how to select adequately the systems for Orbit Control (propulsion and navigation), Attitude Determination and Control, Electrical Power management, Thermal Control, Telecommunication and On-Board Data Handling. 

At the end of the course the student will know good practices for estimating budgets (mass, volume, power, data, cost) and planning assembly, integration and testing activities.
