Massimo Mecella is full professor in Sapienza Università di Roma, where he leads the group in Services, Processes and Software Engineering. He holds a PhD in Engineering in Computer Science (2002) and a MSc in Engineering in Computer Science (1998). His main research interests are in the broad area of Information Systems Engineering, and include Service Oriented Computing (SOC), Business Process Management (BPM), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) and industrial applications of Internet-of-Things (IoT), User-centered Design (UCD) and advanced user interfaces for complex software systems, software architectures, distributed technologies and middleware, Cooperative Information Systems (CISs) and WWW-based information systems, software engineering, cybersecurity. The above topics are challenged in the application domains of digital government and eBusiness, smart environments (houses, buildings and offices, factories), healthcare, cultural heritages and smart tourism, disaster/crisis response & management. He has a great experience in research & innovation projects, at EU level (FP5, FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe), national and regional/local. Massimo Mecella is one of the founding members and acted as President 2018 – 2020, of Over Technologies, a spin-off company of Sapienza, which also delivered on the market the results of the FP7 projects SM4All and GreenerBuildings.
