Giorgio Vilardi is tenure-track professor of Chemical Plant Design I, Chemical Plant Design II and Computer Aided Process Control in the master's degree in Chemical Engineering. PhD in Chemical Engineering (Doctor Europaeus) in 2019 with honor and RTDB at DICMA from 2022. He gets the National Scientific qualifiaction as Full Professor in 2023.

Author of several scientific contributions in the field of thermo-chemical valorisation of solid waste (gasification technologies), decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors (mainly ironmaking, steelmaking and cement, by means of CCS/CCU and alternative fuel use), process intensification in the metals extractions and production of nanofluids, metallic iron and iron oxide nanoparticles. Awarded with the Minerva Scientific Research Prize in 2021 and other awards for his research output.

Ranked among the World's Top 2% Scientists (Elsevier-World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists). The database has been created by a research group of Stanford University to identify all scientists who are among the top ones across all fields from 149 countries and it is recognized worldwide as a major factor contributing to determine the international stature of an academic.
