His primary research interests focus on prevention of risk behaviors and promotion of positive outcomes for at-risk child and adolescent populations. One area of research examines protective and risk factors on the development of risk behavior (i.e., substance use, binge drinking and binge eating) among early-adolescent and immigrant adolescents, and also involves the development and testing of programs to prevent or reduce involvement in such behaviors.
He also has interests in the application of advanced multivariate data analytic methods to examine identity status and risk and protective processes associated with developmental processes in behavioral outcomes. He also has interests in the application of evidence-based programs for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (eg., Collaborative Model for promoting success for students with ASD; Peer Mediated Intervention). He is coordinator of the Board Migration Diversity and Inclusive Strategies.
