Continuum Models and Discrete Systems
15th International Symposium
Rome, Italy, 8-12 June, 2026
The Continuum Models and Discrete Systems (CMDS) symposia form a well-established series of international meetings devoted to the modelling of complex systems through continuum theories and discrete approaches
The CMDS symposia aim to bring together scientists from different disciplines working on continuum theories and discrete models in mechanics, thermodynamics, physics, materials science, and engineering. The distinctive features of CMDS meetings are their interdisciplinary character, the limited number of participants, and a friendly, informal atmosphere, which have always encouraged fruitful discussions and exchange of ideas.
Since its first edition in Kielce (Poland) in 1975, CMDS has been hosted in various locations across Europe, North America, and Asia, including Québec, Freudenstadt, Stockholm, Nottingham, Dijon, Paderborn, Varna, Istanbul, Shoresh, Paris, Kolkata, and Salt Lake City. The latest edition, CMDS14, was held in Paris in June 2023.
