How to reach Pavia

Pavia is located a few kilometers south of Milan and can be easily reached by train (Pavia Station), plane (Milano Linate, Milano Malpensa, and Bergamo Orio al Serio airports), and car (please consider that the availability of free parking lots may vary). The University venues where the conference will take place are approximately a 15-minute walk from the train station.

From Milan Linate Airport to Pavia

Take the metro line 4 (blue line) to Milan Dateo, then change to the suburban train S13 to Pavia (one every 30 minutes; S13 schedule here).

From Milan Malpensa Airport to Pavia

Take a train to Milano Bovisa (every 20-30 minutes), and change at Bovisa station to suburban train S13 to Pavia (approx. 2 hours).

As an alternative, you can take a train or bus to Milano Centrale (Milan Central Station) and catch a train to Pavia there.

  • Buses to Milano Centrale (approximately one hour; you can find buses from several companies in front of the exit of Terminal 1).

From Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport to Pavia

Take a bus to Milano Centrale (approximately one hour; buses from several companies are available at the exit), then take a train to Pavia: tickets and schedules are available here.

From Genova Cristoforo Colombo Airport to Pavia

Take a bus (approx. 30 minutes) to Genova Brignole Station then a train to Pavia: tickets and schedules here.

The 2025 edition of the Transalpine Typology Meeting (TTM25) will be held at the University of Pavia, Italy, on July 1-3, 2025. Our goal is to create an open network of typologists and share insights and feedback on our research projects in a welcoming and informal context. In this regard, we warmly invite submissions for oral presentations on topics related to linguistic typology and comparative linguistics in general from early-career researchers (PhD students, postdoc fellows, ...) and experienced scholars worldwide.

Abstracts for presentations can address a broad range of topics within typology and comparative linguistics, including (but not limited to):

• Cross-linguistic comparison of specific phenomena on any level of analysis (phonology, morphosyntax, semantics, lexicon, pragmatics, discourse, ...).

• Areal typology and language contact (e.g., areal patterns, Sprachbund, ...).

• Diachronic typology and language change.

• Typological perspectives on endangered and minority languages.

• Quantitative and computational approaches to typological research.

• Methodology of typological research.

• Investigation of language-specific phenomena from a typological perspective.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions should be anonymous and meet the following requirements:

• Abstract length: Max. 500 words (including examples and figures, excluding references).

• Format: PDF, 12-point font.

• Language: English.

Proposals can be submitted until January 31, 2025.

The outcome of the review process will be notified by March 1, 2025.
