The Department of Physics is located at Largo Bruno Pontecorvo 3, in the historic center of Pisa, about 4 km from Pisa International Airport “Galileo Galilei”. Also, the building is about a 20-25 minute walk from Pisa Centrale train station. Here are the main options to get there.
How to reach us from Pisa Centrale railway station.
On foot, estimated time: around 20-25 minutes
Exit the station and take Viale Antonio Gramsci (on the left).
Cross Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II and continue along Corso Italia, the main pedestrian shopping street.
At the end of Corso Italia, cross the Ponte di Mezzo bridge.
Keep going straight along Borgo Stretto until you reach Piazza dei Cavalieri.
Continue along Via Ulisse Dini, then turn left into Via San Lorenzo.
After a few minutes, you will arrive at Largo Bruno Pontecorvo. The Department is located at number 3.
By bus
Take the LAM Rossa bus in the direction of Cisanello (the stop is right in front of the station).
Get off at either “Torre” or “Fermi 1”.
From there, it’s about a 5-minute walk to Largo Bruno Pontecorvo.
Tickets can be purchased from vending machines at the station or via local apps (e.g., PisaMo).
How to reach us from Pisa International Airport
By taxi, travel time: approx. 10–15 minutes, depending on traffic.
Taxis are available just outside the arrivals terminal.
Ask the driver to take you to: “Largo Bruno Pontecorvo 3, Dipartimento di Fisica”.
Approximate cost: €10-15.
Via PisaMover
Take the PisaMover shuttle train from the airport to Pisa Centrale train station (runs every few minutes, takes about 5 minutes).
From Pisa Centrale, follow the directions to the Department of Physics on foot or by public transport (see directions from the train station).
Tickets for the PisaMover are available at the airport vending machines or online.
By bus
Outside the airport, take the LAM Rossa bus heading towards Cisanello.
Get off at the “Torre” or “Fermi 1” stop.
From there, it’s a 5-minute walk to Largo Bruno Pontecorvo.

On foot, the walking distance from the airport is about 40-45 minutes.
It’s not the most convenient option with luggage, but it’s possible and can be scenic if you enjoy exploring the city.
