The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in healthcare has led to significant advances in areas such as medical imaging, clinical decision support, and patient monitoring. However, the growing reliance on purely data-driven models has also highlighted important limitations when AI systems are deployed in safety-critical and highly regulated medical contexts. Beyond high predictive accuracy, healthcare applications require interpretability, robustness, transparency, integration of domain knowledge, and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
Neurosymbolic Artificial Intelligence represents a promising direction to address these challenges by combining the strengths of neural learning with symbolic reasoning, knowledge representation, and logic-based constraints. By integrating learning from data with explicit medical knowledge and formal reasoning, neurosymbolic approaches offer new opportunities for building AI systems that are more reliable, explainable, and aligned with clinical practice.
Despite increasing interest in neurosymbolic methods, there is currently a lack of dedicated scientific venues focusing specifically on their application to healthcare. This symposium aims to fill this gap by providing a focused and interdisciplinary forum for researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, symbolic reasoning, and healthcare. The event seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration among AI researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, and industry experts, encouraging the exchange of ideas, methodologies, and real-world experiences.
To ensure strong participation and high-quality contributions, the symposium actively engages the international research community through a broad Call for Papers disseminated via academic mailing lists, professional networks, social media, and direct invitations to leading research groups. The program is further enriched by keynote talks from internationally recognized experts from academia and industry, as well as by the involvement of a diverse and well-established program committee. Together, these elements position the symposium as a timely and impactful venue for advancing neurosymbolic AI in healthcare.
