Welcome to the parent portal! This information is geared toward parents. If you are a student, please go back and click on the student portal. I am SO excited to be your child's teacher this year! I look forward to starting off a fantastic fourth grade year with you and your child. You will hear me use the word "Ohana" a lot this year. This is a Hawaiian term meaning "family." In our class we become Ohana throughout the school year and beyond! It is imperative that everyone, parents and students alike, feel welcomed and respected in my classroom. I look forward to working with you to make this a great year for your child and our classroom Ohana as a whole.

I check my email Mondays-Fridays in the morning before school and after school from 2:40-4:00 p.m. If you email me in the middle of the school day I may not see it until after school. I will respond to you as soon as I can. Please email me in advance if you would like to schedule a meeting with me so I can assure it doesn't conflict with any other professional meetings.

If you order books through the Scholastic Book Club, our class will earn points towards receiving free books. The books will be shipped to Guadalupe, and I will pass them out to your child as soon as they are delivered. Buying books for your child will help foster a love for reading and continue to help them grow as readers. 😁

This website will be utilized throughout the school year for you to sign up for conferences and volunteer opportunities during events in the classroom. A link will be sent out through email by either my room parent or myself as these events and conferences arise.

STANDARDS BASED REPORT CARD

Progress reports are issued three times a year at the end of each trimester. Student progress will be measured against the State Standards for the end of the school year. For this reason, the scores of 1 to 4 should not be equated to grades. This is very different from how we’ve measured progress in the past and can be confusing for parents. The expected score for a student at the first trimester is a 1, at the second trimester a 2, and at the end of the year a 3. Students who exceed the standard may be given a 4 at the end of the year. The Report Card is given to parents at the fall and spring parent-teacher conferences. Student’s hand carry the report cards home in June. You are encouraged to discuss your child’s progress with the teacher.
