Math
Due to the increased rigor in math in fourth grade, it is highly recommended that students complete math homework during the week. This gives them valuable additional practice of the complex math concepts they are learning in class. We work hard during the school day, so I tend to have students work on two problems as "Must Dos" for homework, and they are welcome to do the rest if they like. Please note: students should be working on homework for no more than 20-30 minutes on each homework assignment. I give credit for weekly homework that is turned in by the Friday of each week.
The Eureka math book labeled "Apply" is the homework book. Students need to keep their homework book at home. They can rip out and staple homework pages they complete and turn these pages in at school.
Reading
I highly recommend students read for at least 20 minutes every day at home. Reading will help your child create a strong vocabulary and continue to strengthen their reading skills. Regular reading helps develop students' cognitive abilities and makes it easier for them to absorb and process new information.
Unfinished Work
If your child does not complete important assignments in class they will be sent home to be completed. We talk in class about how important it is to use our class time wisely and stay on task.
