Welcome to the parent portal! This information is geared toward parents. If you are a student, please go back and click on the student portal. I am SO excited to be your child's teacher this year! While we aren't starting the year off in the classroom, I look forward to starting off a fantastic fifth grade year with you and your child online. You will hear me use the word "Ohana" a lot this year. This is a Hawaiian term meaning "family." In our class we become Ohana throughout the school year and beyond! It is imperative that everyone, parents and students alike, feel welcomed and respected in my classroom (digital or in person). I look forward to working with you to make this a great year for your child and our classroom Ohana as a whole.

If your child is missing several assignments, they have missed several Zoom sessions, and/or I am concerned about their progress, I will reach out to you via email. If at any point you want to check in about your child's progress please email me. It is important we work together to help your child have a successful year!

I check my email Mondays-Fridays in the morning before school and from 12-3:00 p.m. (These times refer to when we are participating in Distance Learning). I will respond to you as soon as I can. Please email me in advance if you would like to schedule a meeting with me so I can assure it doesn't conflict with any other professional meetings. During Digital Learning, we can set up Zoom meetings to adhere to county safety procedures.
If you order books through the Scholastic Book Club our class will earn points towards receiving free books. The books will be shipped to Carlton and I will give them to your child when they are delivered. During Digital Learning, there may be some additional protocols that need to be followed. I will let you know of these protocols as soon as I learn more!
