All lessons, content, and materials are geared towards supporting students to achieve California's Common Core State Standards.
This year we will be using our new curriculum Eureka Math Squared. Students will develop deeper comprehensions in areas of:
Module 1: Place Value Concepts for Addition and Subtraction
Module 2: Place Value Concepts for Multiplication and Division
Module 3: Multiplication and Division of Multi-Digit Numbers
Module 4: Foundations for Fraction Operations
Module 5: Place Value Concepts for Decimal Fractions
Module 6: Angle Measurements and Plane Figures
Every day students will engage in reading and writing, explicitly and cross-curriculum. These lessons will incorporate Writer's Workshop, Guided Reading, Notice and Note, EduProtocols, StoryWorks, and various writing/reading strategies by Jennifer Serravallo, and more.
An overview of the school year is:
Trimester 1: Narrative, Fictional Text, and A Boy Called Back Novel Study
Trimester 2: Informational, Nonfiction Text, and Island of the Blue Dolphin Novel Study
Trimester 3: Opinion, Nonficiton Text, and By The Great Horn Spoon Novel Study
This is our third year using TCI (Teachers Curriculum Institute). Students will explore California's history through various lessons and activities.
Unit 1: Physical and Human Characteristics That Define California
Unit 2: Pre-Columbian Settlements and People
Unit 3: European and Exploration and Colonial History
Unit 4: Missions, Ranchos, and the Mexican War for Independence
Unit 5: The Gold Rush and Statehood
This will be the first year with TCI (Teachers Curriculum Institute) for Science. Units of study are:
