The Union County Sheriff's Office is responsible for issuing Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms permits to eligible Union County Residences. Applications are accepted and processed at the front counter of the Sheriff's Office located on the ground floor of the Union County Court House during normal business hours. Applications are available here or in the office. Applications require a $20.00 processing fee to be paid at the time of submission.
If you are a New Applicant
You will need to complete an application which you can download here or fill out at our office. You will need to provide your valid PA driver's license or identification card.
If the issued date on your driver's license or identification card is within the last six months, you will need to provide proof of your residency along with you application
Acceptable proof of residency includes either:
Your previous driver's license or identification card; if it has a Union County address.
Two different utility bills; Electric, Gas, Water, Sewer, Cable, Internet, Cell Phone, Lease or Mortgage Statement.
In the event you are unable to provide the proofs of residency listed above, you will need to wait six months for the issued date on your driver's license or identification card and on that date you may re-apply without needing provide proof of residency.
If you are Renewing
A concealed carry license is renewed every five years. The earliest you can renew is 60 days prior to the expiration date. Our office will mail out a renewal letter at that time. You will need to complete an application again by coming to our office. Please provide your valid PA driver's license or identification card.
Note: If you have a permit issued through a different county that is due for renewal and you are now a Union County resident you will be applying as a new applicant.
Active-Duty Military
This applies to any Active-Duty Military that possess a driver's license from another state. You will need to provide the following:
Valid driver's license or ID card
Copy of orders verifying that you are stationed in Pennsylvania
Must be currently living in Union County
Two different Utility bills
Lost/Stolen Concealed Carry License
If your concealed carry license has been lost or stolen please contact our office during business hours. We will help you take the necessary steps to replace your permit.
Denial Reversal
Applicants that were previously denied upon applying and received a denial reversal letter from the Pennsylvania State Police will need to re-apply in our office.
You will need to fill out a concealed carry application found here.
Please bring your denial reversal letter with your valid PA driver's license or identification card along with your cash payment of $20.00 to our office located in the Union Court House.
