The Red Cross Club is hosting a cereal domino dash fundraiser to help people in the community. They are collecting cereal boxes from February 24th through April 4th.
By The Red Cross Club collecting the cereal boxes, they are wanting to help families that are in need of food or providing them with a meal.
Olivia Cross, a member, said she believes this fundraiser can be a huge success.
“I feel like it’s going to do very well if we get everyone to contribute with it and I feel like it will be very beneficial to those that are in need,” said Cross.
Students and parents can bring brand new cereal boxes every school day to contribute until April 4th.

As spring break approaches next week, students are very excited for the week off.
With it just around the corner, many of our students and staff have began prepping for the fun week ahead and have already made plans whether it be traveling or resting.
“I am very excited for the break and I’m not really sure about my plans for the week. Also just wanted to catch up on sleep with the long week ahead.” said Mrs.Kim Clayton.
“It is very needed and I am really excited for the break.” said Ms. Caruth.
Many of our younger students have begun to make plans to use the break to the fullest.
It is clear to see that students and staff are excited for the week off before the last nine weeks begins.

After coming back from Christmas break, some of our staff and students may have trouble getting back into their routine for school.
From the early mornings to running into school right when the tardy bell rings, many students are having to get back to normal.
“I normally go to sleep at about 10, but over Christmas break, I didn't get in the bed until 12,” said Bentley Neal.
Some staff continued their routine, but their sleep schedule changed drastically.
“ I didn't get out of my routine, but we didnt get out of bed until about 10.” said Coach Mcdonald.
Since it is a fresh start to a new year, some students have plans for a fresh start to the new year and new goals.
“I definitely want to have a better attitude going into the new year.” said Brileigh Brownlee.

There are some minor and major changes and new expectations with the new year for students and teachers at the West Union Attendance Center. Between basketball, baseball, softball, new classes and, schedule changes and it can be reliving for students and it can be a new challenge for them as well, and for teachers it can be thought for them too for instance they have to work the home games, teach new students and, acclimate to the environment that the new students make. Just all around a change for every one for instance Reed Cooper said “ I have no free classes and they are all hard and baseball is rounding the corner fast and I have to go to those practices but at least I have friends in all my classes,” but on the other hand Rylen Blakenship spoke in a deep tone “ My classes are very easy.” Over all the new year will always have new trials and tribulations and they are all different for every student and teacher.

With the New Year to start off there are new expectations to be made. Students returned this month for the spring semester with new classes awaiting them.
We were able to grab a few students and a teacher for their own opinion on how they expect or the new semester of school to go.
We were able to speak to Rylan Blankenship and Shawn Brewer for a few minutes of their time. Shawn said very softly when we asked him about his classes “ I feel very good.”
When we spoke with Rylan he said in a very deep toned voice he said “ my classes feel very easy”. So for the majority of their answers they both seemed very calm and relaxed with now weight over their shoulders.
When we spoke with Reed Cooper who does a variety of sports he said very nervously, “ I would like to have A’s and B’s ,and there isn’t really as much stress as last semester”. So we took it as the same students we talked to earlier, but with a few more expectations.
Then we were able to grab Mrs. Jessica Garrett, a well known English teacher. She said that “ There is no particular stress going into the new semester, but there is stress if students aren’t striving to the expectations I need and I will start to stress out if I feel like they won't be able to pass the class, and State Test.” So a little more expectations since she is a teacher, and she has more to worry about for the education of her students, and her job.
So as we take in all this information there isn't a whole load of stress like last semester or worry of students and teachers having any type of weight on their shoulders. So all in all they really feel that since the school year is at the halfway mark they all they got to do is push thru and Finish with stride.

Their are some major changes that come with the new year but a new course for the 2nd semester of school can be a little difficult. After the break, it can be tough to re-adjust to the difficulty of a structured schedule, especially if the holidays disrupted study routines.”Mrs Garrett, one of the schools English teachers, said she brings high expectations into this semester”.”She said that their will always be stress in these new semesters but nothing she wasn’t ready for. One of West Unions Students in the 11TH grade, Rylan Blankenship was asked how he felt about these new classes this year and he said really good and was ready to get out of them and pass. New challenges are present every semester but our staff and students seem ready to tackle them and get through it.
