She is a faculty member of the Master's Program in Structural and Functional Interactions in Rehabilitation at the University of Marília (UNIMAR), with extensive experience in supervising graduate research. She also serves as the Coordinator of Research and Community Outreach at the University Hospital (Hospital Beneficente da UNIMAR) and is a member of the Animal Research Ethics Committee and the Structuring Teaching Nucleus (NDE) of the Medical School at UNIMAR.
Prof. Barbalho teaches the Cell Biology and Heredity module in the Medical Program at UNIMAR and also lectures in Biochemistry at the College of Food Technology of Marília (FATEC). She ranked first in public selection exams for faculty positions at the University of São Paulo (USP – São Carlos), the Methodist University of Piracicaba (UNIMEP – Lins), and FATEC (Marília), in the fields of Biochemistry and Structural Molecular Biology.
She holds a Bachelor's and a Licentiate degree in Biological Sciences, a Master's in Genetics and Evolution, and a PhD in Sciences, all from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). Her research focuses on metabolism, medicinal plants, and functional foods in health rehabilitation, with emphasis on metabolic diseases such as metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammatory bowel diseases.
Prof. Barbalho has published 265 scientific papers, authored ten book chapters, participated in more than 100 academic examination committees, and serves as a reviewer for over 35 international scientific journals. She is also a member of editorial boards of several peer-reviewed publications.
