Energy Efficiency Project

Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) intends to realize further energy savings by paying close attention to efficient electrical energy appliances. One of the appliances that been given attention is lighting where the lighting replacement project has been implemented gradually. In 2023, 2,509 conventional lamps have been replaced with LED lamps which covers the whole campus area. There are areas where LED lamps have been fully utilized such as Lecture Hall Complex while area lighting and flood lighting are nearly 100% of LED . Up to date the percentage of the energy efficient appliances used in the campus is around 30%.

In addition, 149 unit of conventional air-conditioning unit have been replaced by the energy efficient air-conditioning with 3-star rating at Faculty of Electrical Engineering & Technology Buildings. The percentage of replacement is approximately 75% from total unit available
