Analytical Chemistry Laboratory
DAFNE - First building, ground floor, room 12
Responsible for research activities and teaching in the laboratory: Prof. Maurizio Quinto, PhD.
Responsible in charge: Dr. Giuseppina Spadaccino, PhD.
The lab activities are prevalently focused on food and environmental analytical chemistry.
In particular, we are currently involved in these research topics:
Development of innovative analytical methods for quality control and traceability of foodstuffs;
Innovative microextraction methods for analyte determination in complex matrices;
Analytical techniques for the detection and quantification of volatile compounds in environmental and food matrices.
Prof. Quinto is also the responsible in charge of the analytical equipment of the Core Facilities "Molecules of food and biological interest" and "Food quality and packaging materials". Among the other instruments present in these Core Facilities, Orbitrap is a mass analyzer that can reach very high resolutions (to 1.000.000 Full Width at Half Maximum), allowing, coupled with HPLC, "targeted" and "untargeted" analyses with very high accuracy and sensitivity.
The Analytical Chemistry Research Group of DAFNE is available to evaluate researches or interdisciplinary projects in food or environmental field that can benefit from the use of this equipment.
Information on laboratory activities, publications, recent advances, and projects are currently available and updated at the Analytical Chemistry's Lab - DAFNE - UniFG, Foggia, Italy page.
