Prof. Dr. Antonio Augusto Araújo Pinto da Silva
Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the Federal University of Itajubá since 2016
Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering since 2024
Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering from 2021 to 2024
Academic Background and Research Interests:
I hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science from both the University of São Paulo (USP, 2015) and the University of Lorraine (UL, 2015), obtained through a joint doctoral program (Cotutelle) between the two institutions. I also earned a Master’s degree in Materials Science (USP, 2011) and a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering (USP, 2009). I am currently a professor at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IEM) of the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI). I have been the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering since 2024, after serving as Deputy Coordinator from 2021 to 2024.
My research focuses on Materials Engineering, with emphasis on the experimental investigation of phase diagrams, computational thermodynamics (CALPHAD method), refractory metal alloys, solidification, and structural materials for high-temperature applications. I have supervised one doctoral dissertation and four master's theses.
About Me:
I love music, especially Rock and Heavy Metal. Metallica, Ozzy, Testament, and Megadeth are always on my Spotify playlist! I enjoy learning how things work, which is why I’m interested in topics like wellness, nutrition, philosophy, and history. In my free time, I like working out at the gym, surfing, and watching soccer (go São Paulo!).
