Getting to Bari
There are multiple ways to travel to Bari.
By plane
Bari is served by Karol Wojtyla Airport, located roughly 5 miles northwest of the city center. The airport offers direct flights from several major cities across Europe, as well as some cities in North Africa and the Middle East. To reach the city center from the airport, you have a few options:
Bus: AMTAB's Airport Bus Service (line 16) connects the airport to the city center. The bus stop is just outside the Arrivals Terminal, and buses run every 30 minutes. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes, with a fare of about 2 euros. A Shuttle service, offered by Tempesta Autoservizi, is also available. The shuttle stop is outside the Arrivals Terminal, and a ticket costs around 4.5 euros.
Train: The airport has a dedicated train station that provides service to Bari Centrale Station, the main railway station in Bari. Ferrotramviaria SPA operates two lines (FR2 - grey and FM2 - yellow), both of which can take you to the city. Beware that the airport station is not the final stop. A train ticket to Bari Centrale Station costs around 5 euros.
Taxi: Taxis are available just outside the Arrivals Terminal, offering a 20-minute ride to the city center for about 25 euros.
By train
Bari is well-connected to Italy's railway network, making it accessible by train from various cities across the country. The biggest train station, Bari Centrale Station, serves as the main hub for Trenitalia and Italo.
By car
If you're driving, Bari is accessible via the A14 highway, which links the city to other regions in Italy. From Rome, you would take the A24 and A25 highways to connect with the A14. To reach Bari, you can take either the Bari Nord or Bari Sud exits.
Accommodation
Most accommodation options are located in the city center area. We strongly advise to book your accommodation in advance, for example checking online with Booking.com or whatever online service you prefer, since around the time of San Nicola's festivity, on December 6th, many pilgrims and tourists come to Bari.
