THE CHALLENGE
Coastal and inland territories of the Adriatic-Ionian region share a number of structural challenges.
Many are characterised by small and dispersed populations, micro-enterprises, dependence on tourism and agriculture and valuable cultural and natural resources.
At the same time, these areas are increasingly exposed to climate-related risks such as sea-level rise, coastal erosion and extreme weather events.
Their challenge is to generate economic opportunities while protecting natural resources and cultural heritage, improving environmental sustainability and supporting local communities.
OUR OBJECTIVE
OUR OBJECTIVE
THEMATIC2GREEN aims to promote innovation capacity for green development based on cultural and natural resources while tackling emerging environmental and social challenges. The project supports public institutions, businesses and territorial stakeholders in adopting innovative approaches to environmental quality, climate adaptation and renewable energy. Green-transition challenges cannot be addressed through isolated sectoral measures. Small administrations and micro-enterprises in marginal areas often have limited technical and human resources. THEMATIC2GREEN therefore addresses three interconnected dimensions simultaneously:
environmental quality,
climate resilience
renewable energy.
This integrated approach allows territories to generate synergies between economic development, environmental protection and social sustainability.
THEMATIC2GREEN uses a multi-actor, quadruple-helix approach, connecting research and higher education, public authorities, business-support organisations, enterprises and territorial stakeholders. Partners work jointly across the Adriatic-Ionian region, combining scientific knowledge, policymaking experience, business-development expertise and local knowledge.
