The land it is currently sitting on was originally farm land until the plant was developed in October of 2020. Starting up was a long process, but they currently have 60 to 70 employees working at the plant that all have different backgrounds in engineering, technology, maintenance, business, farming, and more!
Iowa hadn't had a new soybean facility constructed for decades prior making this structure in the backyard of Shell Rock so unique! The creation of SRSP created many jobs and opportunities for many around eastern Iowa including local farmers who sell their soybeans to SRSP. Soybeans serve many purposes that are used all around such as renewable fuels, cooking oils, and cattle and pig feed.
