La Serena city is located in the IV region of Chile, also called the Coquimbo region. From Santiago de Chile (Capital) and in the North direction, a distance of 473.4 km (294.2 Miles) separates them. La Serena connects the sea and the valley, where one can enjoy sightseeing, from the Pacific Ocean to the mountains of the Cordillera de los Andes. It has exquisite meals with seafood and superb wines and piscos made with local grapes.
In the IV region, there are three transverse valleys: Elqui, Choapa and Limarí. The Valle de Elqui houses a large number of professional telescopes, most of which are part of NSF's NOIRLAB (National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory). Among them are the Gemini South Observatory, Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory.
The LSST@LATAM workshop will be held at Universidad de La Serena, campus Andres Bello, address: Avenue Raúl Bitrán Nachary Nº 1305.
Auditorium: Salón Pentágono.
