PROJECT DETAILS
Safe and Healthy Spaces
Installing rooftop HVAC units throughout the elementary school. Currently the elementary classrooms are housing the energy recovery ventilators that are responsible for managing classroom temperatures. The removal of these and installation of rooftop units will be much more quiet, more easily to maintain without interfering with instructional time, and will now be connected to the overall system whereby troubleshooting and resolving issues can be completed remotely.
Adding a safe and secure entrance to the elementary and high school offices. The addition of a secure entrance for the elementary and the high school offices for entering the building during the school day will make the entrance safer and more secure while school is in session. Students, teachers, and parents can feel more secure so the focus can be on learning and enjoying school without worrying about safety.
Redesigning bus drop-off with new grass and sidewalks for the playground area. The redesigning of the bus drop-off will provide updated green space and playground area for a more safe experience.
Adding a new Early Childhood age appropriate playground. A new early childhood playground will be created more closely to their new location for easy access in and out of the building.
Replacing and updating outdated equipment on the Northwest playground. Revise and redesign the current playground to include age-appropriate equipment, safe ground surfaces, paved areas, and green spaces.
Replacing original air handling system in the High School Commons/Stage area. The existing air handling unit has exceeded its life expectancy and the replacing of this unit to the roof will provide more efficient climate control and energy efficiency to the Commons area.
Renovating High School Commons by removing seldom used stage. The removal of the stage provides a larger space for more flexible usage and larger capacity of students at one time.
Replacing out-of-date pneumatic controls with new electric/direct digital controlled heating systems in the elementary school. Replacing pneumatic controls with electric or digital systems in a school can lead to better energy management, improved comfort, and reduced maintenance costs.
Learning Environments
Moving Early Childhood classrooms to the North wing and adding restrooms.
Renovate classrooms for Early Childhood, Speech, Guidance and Title I programs.
The relocating of the Early Childhood classrooms will now allow the youngest students in the building to have the shortest walk to their classrooms after being dropped off. The renovation of these rooms will include the addition of classroom restrooms and modifications aligned to enhance age appropriate learning experiences.
Adding a new conference room in the Elementary library. The addition of the conference room can be used for small group instruction, one-on-one tutoring sessions, student-teacher conferences, study groups, and even as a quiet space for students to work independently.
Site Improvements
Replacing elementary school windows. The original single-pane windows in the elementary are not energy efficient. By replacing these windows with new double-pane windows it will provide much better insulation to reduce energy costs while maintaining consistent temperatures in the classrooms.
Replacing elementary boiler. The two natural gas boilers from the 1970s have been well maintained but are well beyond their life expectancy and are having flow issues that lead to relief valves blowing. Parts are becoming an enormous problem for equipment of this age. Installing high-efficiency condensing hot water boilers can boost the overall efficiency of a heating system and enhance temperature regulation.
Replacing sanitary waste piping and associated flooring systems that are in danger of failing in the elementary school. Some parts of the elementary school have sanitary piping that is over 50 years old, and it has already been in use for longer than it was originally expected to last. Replacing these pipes with PVC material is necessary to prevent more extensive and costly repairs in the future.
Renovating kindergarten and multi-purpose restrooms to be ADA compliant. Kindergarten restrooms will be made larger to become ADA compliant while adding a new restroom in a third classroom that does not currently have one.
Renovating restrooms near the elementary multi-purpose room to be ADA compliant. Renovating these classrooms so they meet Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines will provide equal access for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they can use them independently and without assistance.
Upgrading of sidewalks, visitor bleachers, lighting, goal posts, rest rooms, concession stand, ticket gate and storage at the football field. Football Field Upgrades: Sidewalks, Visitor bleachers, New Field Lighting, Goal Posts, Rest Rooms, Concession Stand, and Storage. Project also includes a new concrete sidewalk over the existing location.
Renovate baseball/softball field to be used for both events at the high school.
Paving of the high school SW parking lot that is currently gravel. The paving of the SW gravel parking lot will enhance our ability to organize and create safer arrangements of parking stalls while also making it easier for snow removal.
