Session: Show Me, Don't Tell Me: The Relevance of ePortfolios in Today's Learning

Dr. Miko Nino is Director of Online Learning at University of North Carolina Pembroke (UNCP) and Chair of the UNC System Online Leadership Collaboration. He has been in the field of instructional design and online learning for 16 years, with roles at Johns Hopkins University, Virginia Tech, and University of Maryland Baltimore County. His research is focused on ePortfolios, digital game-based learning, gamification, and online learning. His model “The 6A ePortfolio Model,” published in the International Journal of ePortfolio, is considered the first one studying the formal process of students transforming learning ePortfolios into career ePortfolios. Currently, he is implementing the ePortfolio Initiative for Career Success (EPICS) at UNCP, based on this model. Dr. Nino’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Nino serves on the editorial review board for the Journal of Online Learning Research, the Journal of Technology and Teacher Education, the International Journal of ePortfolio, and Contemporary Issues in Technology Education - General. In addition, Dr. Nino is a public speaker, focusing on topics related to learning and development.
