Happiness. Being happy is key!
A hatful of colors!
A hatful of time-freezing stopwatches
Build-A-Bears or any kind of plushie!
Hair ties!
Hair ties! I am always losing them. Or a hatful of more hours in the day.
Hatful of Peace
Fun and new friends
My favorite part of working on this show has been building relationships with my fellow cast mates and creating such a close bond between us all.
I am loving working as a Stage Manager! I love being a guiding, supportive hand in the production and getting to work with such an awesome cast!
My favorite aspect of working on Hatful has been seeing the play come together with props and costumes throughout the weeks. Also, my favorite scene is Scene 2 when Dragon 2 says, " I know you know better than to ignore a dragon. A hungry dragon."
How cute it is
It’s a comedy! Dragons with intense attitudes
The props are UH-MAZE-ING!
How much a silly play can teach adults!
It’s different every time you see it! New locations and audiences lead to changes in the play
Structure your time during rehearsals so you have a clear plan
Meet more than once a week for an extended period of time
Give yourselves more time than 4 months to get everything ready
Start practicing outside sooner rather than later
Don't be afraid to go all out! This show is all about finding our inner wacky, and letting it shine in the most colorful and creative way possible.
I would advise you to start collecting “junk” for instruments early! It makes it’s so much easier when the time to put the instruments together comes along. Additionally, make sure you reach out to potential community partners early on to make sure both sides have enough time to prepare for the show there.
Be open to the process! This play has so much possibility and opportunity to have fun and embrace the creativity of the play. Also, get off book as quickly as possible.
