MotorMS : What is it?
MotorMS is a PC application developed based on VIKOR method algorithm to:
Assist motor designer in selecting combination of materials for their motor parts.
The user can select the component to be improved and the criteria to be considered for each component.
The criteria of interest depends on the components to be improved/optimized.
MotorMS library provide a list of available material in the market.
MotorMS library will automatically uses the value of the selected criteria for the list of material options chosen.
MotorMS uses VIKOR method as algorithm to rank the material selection and proposes the best material combination.
Depending on the entry parameters given by the user, MotorMS also calculate the total cost of raw material and total weight per motor.
VIKOR Method
The VIKOR method was developed as a multi-criteria decision making method to solve a discrete decision problem with non- commensurable and conflicting criteria.
This method focuses on ranking and selecting from a set of alternatives, and determines compromise solutions for a problem with conflicting criteria, which can help the decision makers to reach a final decision.
Here, the compromise solution is a feasible solution which is the closest to the ideal, and a compromise means an agreement established by mutual concessions.

Steps
Step 1: Creating a list of alternatives.
Step 2: Grouped criterial to each alternative (Organizing decision matrix).
Step 3: Weighting each criteria in each group.
Step 4: Determination of ideal solutions the best and the worst values.
Step 5: Compute the values R_i, S_i and Q_i.
Step 6: Rank the alternatives based on Q_i values from smallest to biggest.
