All animal ID’s must be completed online by families by MAY 15th at: http://mn.4honline.com
State 4-H user guides, worksheets, lease agreements, and help videos can be found at: http://www.4-H.umn.edu/animal-ID
With the exception of the Dog project, the ID forms found on the state animal ID site are intended to be used simply as a place to collect the information you will need to complete your online ID. You do not need to fill out the paper form at all if it's not helpful to you; animal ID information may be entered directly online through the 4honline website. If you do not have access to a computer, the office has some available to use.
If you have not yet decided which family member will be showing an animal, use your best guess and ID the animal only under ONE PERSON. All family members' animals will show up as options when completing fair registrations.
Complete your IDs as early as possible - sometimes members who wait until the last minute experience technical difficulties or forget to complete the ID. The penalty for a late ID is ineligibility for awards higher than a blue and state events.
There is a one-time free pass for missing a deadline to avoid penalties. However, for animal ID's, you must submit the ID within one week of the deadline to be able to use this "exemption". There is also a form to fill out to state that you are using your exemption.
Cloverbuds do not need to submit Animal ID's (dog participants will still require proof of rabies vaccinations, poultry will require statement of origin/pullorum, and horse will need to show coggins).
Market beef needed to have been ID'ed by February 18. Breeding beef and prospect calf ID's are due May 15.
We do have a couple Wright County-only classes for prospect calves - those can still be ID'ed through May 15.
Make sure you have the correct breed selected; the breed from the ID is used to auto-select your class at County Fair.
Dairy Spring calves may be ID'ed through June 1- submit a paper form to the office for these animals as the system will be locked after May 15.
Dog vaccination information must be on the official state 4-H form and signed by the vet to be eligible to participate at the state dog show; signed vaccination forms given out by the vet can not be used.
NEW: Training class participants need to have their ID completed and uploaded before the start of class. Members with incomplete ID's will not be allowed to train.
Junior meat goat doe kids (DOB Mar 1 - May 31) may be ID'ed through June 1 and Junior dairy goat doe kids may be ID'ed through July 1 - submit a paper form to the office for these animals as the system will be locked after May 15.
All goats must have scrapies tags. Find more information on the MN Board of animal health website here: https://www.bah.state.mn.us/sheep-goats/
Coggins forms should be uploaded if you have them, but can be emailed to staff to add at a later date if they are not yet available. You must have a current coggins form on file before attending any 4-H events with your horse.
The Wright County poultry project has additional county requirements that differ from the information on the state page. Please note the following about the process:
You will need to submit a poultry ID online at: 4honline.com for each breed of bird you are showing; you do not need to fill out one ID per bird, but rather one form for each run of birds with the same breed, type (breeding/market/etc.) and hatch dates. Select the option for: “Poultry Health Papers” and use the name field to indicate the type of poultry (breeding turkeys, market chickens, etc).
“Statement of Origin” or negative Pullorum-Typhoid test certificates need to be uploaded to the 4Honline ID page or submitted to the office as well. This does not need to be completed by the May 16 deadline (upload any photo or file to bypass that screen), but they MUST be uploaded BEFORE exhibiting at county fair. Testing was previously offered at check-in for those without the paperwork, but will not be allowed; birds will be sent home without the proper paperwork submitted in advance.
Rabbit information clinics will be offered this summer to help answer questions and tattoo your rabbits. Please fill in your ID with the letters/numbers you will be tattooing if you are participating in this clinic after the deadline.
4-H'ers must ID the doe of fryer rabbits by May 15.
All sheep must have scrapies tags. Find more information on the MN Board of animal health website here: https://www.bah.state.mn.us/sheep-goats/
Make sure you enter the beginning weight and date if you want to compete in rate of gain classes at the fair.
All swine must have a premise ID number. Find more information on the MN Board of animal health website here: https://www.bah.state.mn.us/swine/
Cattle, Swine, Sheep/Goats: We have Y-Tex tags again this year for cattle, swine, sheep, and goats. Tags come in three sizes. The swine and cattle tags can additionally serve as official BAH tags. All three sizes will be available for purchase at the Extension office at a cost of $3. Poultry leg bands are also available at the office, or at fair check-in for a cost of .50 each. Tags this year are blue, however the state will still allow us to use the yellow tags for this year if you still have some left over from a previous year. Use a Y-Tex tagger only to apply tags!
