Is there food available at the Capitol?

Yes, consider having lunch or picnicking while you are at the Capitol. Here are some ideas:

• The restored German-themed Rathskeller Café in the basement of the Capitol is open during the legislative session from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

• A grab-and-go lunch counter is available on the second floor during legislative floor sessions.

• Vending machines near the cafe' offer cold drinks and snacks.

• A cafeteria in the Centennial Office building is a short walk from the Capitol, connected through tunnels or by sidewalks.

• Visitors are welcome to enjoy picnics on the Capitol lawn.

What should I wear?

• Business casual or professional attire is appropriate. This means slacks, khakis, nice jeans, skirts, blouses, and blazers. 

• There will be a lot of walking so wear your comfy shoes!
