Many upper-division writing-intensive courses at the university feature research-based writing activities. For many students, these activities are their first experiences with integrated research in the discipline. Research strategies that have worked previously may not serve them well as they navigate new sources, databases, and disciplinary conventions. In this workshop, participants will work on integrating research-based writing assignments with specific and guided information literacy instruction. Participants will also have opportunities to plan ahead for previous semesters by identifying places where they can collaborate with colleagues in academic libraries, the Writing Across the Curriculum program, and Student Writing Support.
