Some of our most important learning comes from deliberate practice and professional feedback. Unfortunately, sometimes, our most earnest feedback doesn't eliminate issues in student writing (and occasionally creates new ones). How do we provide feedback that students will use without spending several extra hours marking up their pages? This workshop will introduce research-backed strategies for prioritizing, organizing, and presenting written feedback on student writing. The best part is that effective feedback asks students to do most of the work!
While this workshop emphasizes formative feedback (the feedback students receive when they still have time to revise and make changes), we can also address summative feedback, rubrics, and grading as part of the teaching and learning process.
