We host a SIGN intro meeting to introduce the new M1s to the organization, introduce the executive board, and inform students of the events we have planned for the year.
Chief residents host a workshop for fourth year medical students interested in applying to neurology residency. Topics covered included personal statement feedback, interview experiences, “what programs look for”, and post-interview communication.
Faculty, fellows, and residents hosted multiple hands-on stations, where 1st and 2nd year medical students could get early clinical experience in the various neurology subspecialties. Stations included EEG, EMG, sleep, lumbar puncture, neuro-intervention, neuroradiology, and deep brain stimulation. This was very well attended and highlighted early involvement of Medical students in the discipline.
This event featured multiple faculties in the neurosciences (MDs and PhDs) who have a career that involves research. This served as an excellent opportunity for students to form connections with faculty, who may wish to recruit students to contribute to their research projects. The potential for student research is an untapped area of SIGN and Co-SIGN. Thank you to the faculty who volunteered for this event.
This will be a chance for medical students to meet with faculty and residents to prepare for their next steps in their career.
This will be an opportunity for medical students to ask about the experiences of those who successfully matched into neurology.
