One of the focuses of the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener program education efforts is youth gardening and this program offers just that. Programs that connect youth to gardening are on the increase nationally. These programs have goals associated with promoting healthy eating, reducing child obesity, connecting youth to nature, and teaching life and science skills.
Our program endorses the use of the Junior Master Gardener curriculum and program, as well as other program influences. It is a nationally and internationally recognized Extension youth gardening program developed by Texas Agricultural Extension Service. Our program is supported by the Sherburne County Master Gardeners and they will be your child's mentor through the season.
