Citizen Historians for the Smithsonian

Our friends at Citizen Historians are our first official sister project! Citizen Historians for the Smithsonian is an all-volunteer effort to document everything on display at the Smithsonian’s 21 museums, the national zoo, and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial museum.

What needs to be saved? Other Department of the Interior units, beyond the National Park Service, are also impacted by the Executive and Secretarial Orders. In particular, we have heard from volunteers around the country who have photos of interpretive signs at Bureau of Land Management sites and at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sites. If you choose to tackle preserving signs at one of these bureaus, we will point those volunteers to you!
