Rusty’s Cooking Club can be used in early care and education settings in a variety of ways:
Introduce Rusty, the cooking club mascot, by leading the Rusty’s Cooking Club lesson plan.
Lead the children in cooking lessons during child care, Head Start or preschool. Have children help make the recipes.
Host a parent/friend cooking event where children cook with a parent or adult friend. This can be a one-time event, or you can make a different recipe every month.
Send the Look and Cook recipes home for children to make with parents or another adult.
Send the full recipe packet home for children to make with parents or another adult. The full packet includes nutrition information, fun facts and the Look and Cook recipe.
Recipes in the early care and education settings do not use an oven or a stove. If you would like to make recipes that use the stove or oven, go to the Recipe section.
