PSEO students are required to use their University email for communication with the University. Important: You must check your University email regularly.
Find your 7-digit student ID number at the top of your admission email.
Navigate to the Claim Account page (unless you've taken UMN courses below; see below).
Follow the directions to initiate your account and choose your new password.
Note: Leave the "Social Security Number" field blank
If you have participated in College in the Schools (CIS) or UMTYMP at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, you should already have a UMN email account.
If you have forgotten the login information, call our Technology Help Line at 612-301-4357, and ask them to reset your password.
Students who have taken College in the Schools (CIS), PSEO, or other courses at University of Minnesota campuses other than Twin Cities (e.g. Morris, Duluth, Crookston, or Rochester) in the past also need to complete a domain name change request so that Google apps (i.e. Google Calendar, Google Drive, etc.) will function properly at the Twin Cities campus.
Complete the Domain Name Change Request after activating your UMTC internet account.
If you encounter an error, try using 999999999 in the Social Security Number field.
If you still encounter problems, call the PSEO Office (612) 626-1666 to confirm your birth date, address, and ID number.
For any other errors, contact the Technology Help Line at (612) 301-4357.
After activating your internet account, you will be prompted to enroll in Duo two-factor security.
Carefully choose your device(s) to enroll. You will need access to your chosen authentication method/device every time you need to log in to University systems, such as your email account. We recommend that you enroll your smartphone if you have one.
Important: Be sure to have your smartphone (or other authentication method) with you when you log into UMN resources like registering for classes and checking your UMN email.
Even before starting classes, you can start using University technology resources and services.
You should now be able to access your UMN email account at mail.umn.edu. Bookmark this link to access your email later.
Note: Always be sure you're logged out of your personal Gmail account before logging into your UMN account.
