Assistant Professor, University of Minnesota Medical School
Caity received her B.S. degree in Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Florida. She began working in a research lab as an undergraduate and was mentored by Dr. Kyle Rohde. She received her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019, where her graduate work in innate immunology was mentored by Dr. Miriam A. Shelef. Caity then completed postdoctoral training in bacterial pathogenesis at the University of Michigan under the mentorship of Dr. Michael A. Bachman. Caity is passionate about immunology and bacteriology, mentorship, and reading science literature.

Lab Manager
Lexi began her laboratory work as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan where she was mentored by Dr. Caitlyn Holmes. She received her B.S. degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology there in December 2024. Lexi is passionate about genetics, immunology, and bacteriology. She also strongly believes that science is for everyone and advocates for science to be inclusive and understandable for people of all backgrounds.

Postdoctoral Fellow
Andrew received his B.A. in Biology at the University of Minnesota, Morris. After spending four years in industry working as a microbiologist, he began his PhD at The Ohio State University under Dr. Brian Ahmer. His graduate work focused on the study of bacterial communication and sugar-phosphate toxicity in Salmonella and other Gram-negative species. Andrew is interested in leveraging our understanding of bacterial pathogens to develop new strategies to combat infections.

Laboratory Technician
Catherine earned her B.S. in Physiology and Neurobiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She began her microbiology and immunology training during her Master’s at the University of Michigan in Dr. Michael Bachman’s lab, mentored by Dr. Caitlyn Holmes. Her research focused on identifying Klebsiella pneumoniae factors that enhance bacteremia by conferring resistance to oxidative, nitrosative, and macrophage-mediated stress. Catherine is continuing her graduate studies in the MICaB program at the University of Minnesota. She values scientific curiosity, collaboration, and communication to bridge research with public understanding.
