The Graduate Program Coordinators (GPC) Network is a forum specifically for the graduate and professional student services community (similar to the Academic Advisors Network (AAN) for the undergraduate community). It allows GPCs and others in graduate education the opportunity to communicate across decentralized colleges and campuses to facilitate the sharing of critical updates, best practices, knowledge, and skill development.
GPCs are staff members within each graduate or professional program who provide graduate students with information about the program and its requirements, and identify ways to help the program be more successful. Read more about GPC responsibilities.
The short answer: a lot!
The GPC Network shares ideas and best practices for a wide variety of items related to the work of GPCs. This includes, but is note limited to: program orientations, open discussions about issues in higher education such as affirmative action in admissions, legal issues in graduate education, technology updates, and more. The GPC Network also offers a mentoring program for new GPCs. As the GPC Network grows and evolves, so will its capabilities.
The GPC Network has also created several resources to support GPC work. These include the GPC Responsibilities guide, the Onboarding for Graduate Program Coordinators guide, and other resources.
