Curriculum Training Options

It is highly recommended for districts adopting Functional Phonics+Morphology across grades K-5 to provide teachers who service K-2 students with a 6-hour training in Functional Phonics and teachers who service 3-5 students with a 6-hour training in Functional Morphology. 

If you are adopting Functional Phonics (K-2) only, it is recommended to provide teachers with a 6-hour training in Functional Phonics. 

If you are adopting Functional Morphology (3-5) only, it is recommended to provide teachers with a 6-hour training in Functional Morphology.

• Create a verbal rationale for phonics instruction aligned with structured literacy practices, providing evidence from research and instructional frameworks

• Develop a broad understanding of Functional Phonics’ key features and instructional design rationale

• Observe a demonstration of instruction to identify and explain critical lesson components

• Practice instructional routines and receive feedback to become accurate in critical lesson components

• Understand the purpose of assessments in Functional Phonics is for Data Based Decision Making which enhances student learning
