Scope & Sequence
The Functional Phonics Scope and Sequence provides an overview of the specific phonics patterns and Heart Words taught each week.
The scope and sequence is also used as an easy navigation tool to access the lesson slides, student materials, teacher manuals, assessments, home-school connections and more!
Instructional Materials
All lessons are created in Google slides are fully animated for ease of use and include 5 days of instruction and activities. Teacher scripts are included in the notes section of each slide.

Teacher Manuals
Teacher Manuals are available digitally and can be printed per level, unit or lesson. Each lesson includes explicit scripts and allow teachers easy access to the instructional activities that aid in lesson planning and for easy access during instruction.
Student Materials
Student Materials are used daily to engage students in multi-modal practice and learning and are available digitally as one- or two-per-page PDF's. Teachers can choose the best format for their student needs!

Articulation and Phoneme-Grapheme Card sets
Articulation and Phoneme-Grapheme card images are embedded into the lesson presentations.
Printed cards are available for teachers to reference and use to build their sound wall.

ASSESSMENTS
Teachers using Functional Phonics will collect accuracy and automaticity data to make informed decisions to guide their instruction (differentiation, pacing, re-teaching, etc.).
Functional Phonics includes weekly Formative Assessments, monthly Mixed Review Assessments, an Assessment Manual and Data Tracker to help inform these decisions.
Formative Assessments
Weekly assessment of the phonics pattern taught throughout the lesson
Assesses decoding accuracy & automaticity
Optional spelling formative assessments are available
Mixed Review Assessments
Monthly assessments that include previously taught phonics patterns
Timeline: Approximately every 4 weeks
Assesses retention of accuracy & automaticity of previously taught phonics patterns
Assessment manual
The Assessment Manual includes directions for accessing and administering assessments, a flow chart of how to read and use data as well as additional instruction strategies based on assessment data.
Data Tracker
Functional Phonics provides access to a digital data tracker. Data tracker can be used school-wide or for grade-level teams and provides pre-populated formula's for ease of viewing the student data to make instructional decisions.
