Generative AI is creating new opportunities to accelerate scientific discovery across disciplines ranging from materials science and physics to health, agriculture, and environmental science. At the same time, scientific applications expose important limitations of current AI systems and raise new challenges related to scientific reasoning, reliability, generalization, and the integration of scientific knowledge.
The Frontiers of Generative AI & Science Workshop is motivated by the belief that science should help shape the future of AI, not merely consume it. Indeed, scientific discovery can serve as a powerful driver of AI innovation. The workshop will bring together researchers from academia, industry, government, and national laboratories to examine emerging opportunities, identify key research challenges, and explore future directions for AI-driven scientific discovery. Through invited talks and panel discussions, participants will help define a research agenda for the next frontier of Generative AI in science.
