CEMS outreach is driven by the idea that STEM education should be accessible to all. Our focus is to collaborate with high school teachers in the Twin Cities on outreach efforts that fit inline with their curriculum. From working with high school teachers we have developed five different initiatives that range from in-person lab assistance to creating video tutorials to support lesson plans. So far we have collaborated with teachers from Edison High School, Waconia High School, and St. Paul Central High School.
Volunteers include CEMS undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and faculty.
If you are interested in any of the initiatives listed below then fill out the associated google form and we will get in touch.
Partner with a CEMS volunteer to assist your classroom lab throughout the semester. One CEMS volunteer has commented on this, "I've helped [teacher] design small labs and am currently working on designing a larger, more involved experiment for the class. It's been really cool to connect aspects of my research to the material that they are learning... I would recommend this style of volunteering for other grad students if they are interested in a more consistent volunteering/teaching experience." more information

Stay connected with the CEMS network through video calls with your classroom. CEMS volunteers, including undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and alumni, can sign up to speak to your students about a wide range of topics. As our volunteers can call in from anywhere, you can sign up to have nationwide and even international volunteer speakers.
