Hello, we're the Aliota lab
We work with arthropod-borne viruses
We use a cross disciplinary approach to address a wide variety of questions regarding the host response (both the invertebrate and vertebrate host) to arbovirus infection, with particular focus on the dynamics of host-virus interactions. If the current Zika virus situation has taught us anything, it is that arbovirus emergence is the “new normal” in the Americas. Future outbreaks are unpredictable but likely are inevitable. Therefore, our overall goal is to develop strategies to interrupt transmission or predict a zoonotic pathogen’s adaptability or evolvability.
