Planning Resources

• Curriculum Checklists: Overview of your certificate requirements

• GPAS Report: Provides a live view of your completed, in progress, and remaining requirements.

• Certificate Course Timing and Modality Spreadsheet: Shows when classes in your program are offered in which format.

• Viewing Course Meeting Dates and Times

  • The Schedule Builder tool or the MyU Class Search tool can be used to verify course meeting dates and times.

  • Analytics Certificate students can use the MABA Curriculum Calendar to see when MABA courses are scheduled.

  • Taxation Certificate students can use the MBT Curriculum Calendar to see when MBT courses are scheduled.

  • General Business Certificate students can use the MBA Class Schedule Spreadsheets to see a list of all MBA courses offered in a given semester: Fall 2026 | Summer 2026

• Note: Certificate students are only allowed to enroll in the courses that are listed as a part of their certificate. Courses outstide the certificate requirements list will not be allowed. In addition, students are not eligible to register for Full-Time MBA cohorted sections (generally have MBA prefix and section 1).

Registration

New Student Registration

For your first semester, you will work with your Enrollment Counselor to complete your registration. 

Continuing Student Registration

Registration takes place three times each year and you will hear from your Student Support Specialist, Geof Sage, via email in advance with instructions to prepare. Here are key dates for the start of each registration cycle:

• • Fall 2026 Registration:  April 20, 2026

  • Spring 2027 Registration:  November 17, 2026

  • Summer 2027 Registration: March 3, 2027

Note: General business certificate students receive access to register for MBA courses after priority registration for MBA Program students passes. The times above may differ from what is listed in MyU.

Registration Process 

General Business Candidates 

Each term your Student Support Specialist will register you for classes. To prepare, complete the following steps:

1. Check for and resolve holds

2. Use the Planning Resources above to determine courses to request. 

3. Email your course request(s) to your advisor Geof Sage and he will process your registration.

4. After registering, verify your schedule in MyU to ensure desired courses are present

Dropping Classes: As a student, you can drop classes from your schedule on your own in the MyU Portal Shopping Cart. 

Taxation Candidates 

After your first semester, you will be responsible for registering yourself for classes in the MyU Portal Shopping Cart. One Stop Student Services has how-to registration guides to assist you with navigating the registration system. 

Certificate Completion

Apply to Graduate

As you approach your final certificate coursework, you are required to complete the following steps so that your certificate is awarded and listed as complete on your transcript: 

1. In advance of your final semester, verify with your advsior that you are on track to meet all certificate requirements.

2. Apply to graduate within the appropriate date range for your program completion and no later than the first day of the anticipated month of graduation. You can view the date ranges and deadlines for monthly graduation.

What Comes Next

• Certificates are awarded 3-4 weeks after the conclusion of your graduation month. You will receive notification once this process is completed.

• If you are interested in continuing your graduate studies at Carlson, you can apply to continue into a Master's degree. Credits completed while in a certificate are eligible to be applied towards a future master's degree as outlined in the Certificate Handbook.

• Following program completion, certificate students' access to University email, technology systems, and services will change. Review how your access will be impacted and recommended next steps. 

Add/Drop & Refund Deadlines

The University's Add/Drop & Refund Deadlines outline windows in which students can add or drop classes, as well as the associated tuition refund and student record impacts. Students should pay careful attention to these when considering changes to their schedule . Contact One Stop Student Services or your academic advisor with questions.
