The recommended dress code is business casual. Please also consider the forecasted weather and your shoe choice for the campus tour as you will primarily be walking outside.
Please keep in mind that Admitted Student Day is intended for students only. Your family members or guests are welcome to accompany you to campus but we do not have programming available for them to participate. We recommend guests enjoy Coffman Memorial Union which features the University of Minnesota Bookstore, Goldy’s Game Room (equipped with an arcade, pool tables and a bowling alley), Starbucks, and Minnesota Marketplace (food court).
If you have any questions or concerns throughout Admitted Student Day, please come to the registration table or speak with an Admissions staff member so that we can assist with any accommodations you may need.
We also recognize that Ramadan is currently taking place and we would like to help provide time and space for prayer. The Gateway Room (diagram for reference) has been designated as a Prayer Room.
In McNamara Alumni Center there are two private, single-person restrooms past the elevators and to the left (diagram for reference). There are also private restrooms on the 2nd floor that we can help direct you to if these spaces are occupied.
Letters of love began in 2018 by a junior at a local Minnesota high school who wanted to make a difference. She tragically lost her mother to cancer at age 11 and remembered all the cards she made for her mom during her battle. It inspired her to want to emotionally support children battling cancer and other serious illnesses. Each card should contain only loving and supportive words of encouragement.
Tables will be set up in the Heritage Gallery for you to stop by after trying on your white coat and show your creative side through your own Letters of Love. Join us in making a kid's day! Your letters will be donated to one of our local hospitals.

During the morning Rotating Breakout Sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to try on sample white coats in the Heritage Gallery to determine their size. We order coats through the University bookstore, who chooses the lab coat vendor. The vendor chooses to label the sizes by limited gender labels, “Men’s” and “Women’s” lab coats. The main difference between the “Men’s” and “Women’s” sizes is the length of the sleeve and torso is slightly longer in the “Men’s” size and the shoulder fit is broader. Please do not feel limited by the gender label when selecting your size. Staff will be on-site to assist you in finding your best fit.
